Futureworld

Blow, blow, blow the man down

Along with solar energy, Australia has a huge potential as far as wind generated power goes and again as with solar, only a mere fraction of wind energy is being harnessed. There are vast expanses on the australian continent which are very suitable for wind turbines having very favourable weather conditions for this type of power generation. The current problem is the same as for solar, that is, a great deal of capital needs to be invested in making it commercially viable.

With ongoing research and investment, more economical, efficient and innovative designs are emerging, which is bridging the current difficulty in this area of sustainable power generation. Once this is achieved the percentage of sustainable, clean and renewable energy production will increase substantially which is a very exciting thought indeed.

Here at Futureworld there are interactive displays which show how wind power works and how much power is generated from a wind turbine. It is fun and instructive but most of all children and people of all ages will enjoy themselves, taking away with them a better understanding and a desire to know more.

In addition to these displays, Futureworld is very proud to have a full scale turbine on display. It is massive, with blades over 10 metres in length and a huge turbine onto which the blades are fastened. This part of our exhibit is sure to gobsmack and awe all who see it. Definitely a must see for the kids!!!

As with all the exhibits there is a mountain of extra information that can be taken away giving all the specifics you would ever need to know about the wind power generation, the wind turbine or any other of the exhibits on show. So feel free to help yourselves.
